Case study / 15 Min Covid TestAds, print, billboards and screens
Design, 2021Nottingham, Derby and UK wide
Fit tofly
When Covid was at its peak, every trip abroad came with a test and a deadline. I designed the brand system for a rapid test centre, and it ran on social ads, leaflets, billboards and digital screens across the UK.

Big type, one message per piece, and you can read it from across the road.
The brief
Design for a Covid test centre, covering how it ran day to day and how it was advertised. People were anxious, rules changed every few weeks and flights were booked around results, so every piece had to be instantly clear.
What I made
One system that worked at every size: cyan and navy label boxes, heavy capitals, holiday imagery and the clock in the logo. The same look went out as social ads, leaflets, posters, billboards and digital screens.
now boarding.
Each design carried one job: one test, one time, one call to action. Laid out like the board people were checking before their flights.
one look, four places.
The same system had to work on a phone in your hand, through your letterbox, on a roadside board and on a screen in a shopping centre.
in the feed.
Square ads for Facebook and Instagram, each with one offer: a return to the UK test you take at home, late night booking slots, fit to fly certificates. Bold enough to stop a thumb.

through the door.
Beach, palms and deckchairs on the front, the phone number and web address big at the bottom. Printed for doorsteps, counters and windows around Nottingham.

by the road.
Wide format for roadside boards. Two messages, read in the time it takes to drive past: PCR and antigen certificates, and day two and day eight slots in Derby.
on screen.
Portrait cuts of the same designs for digital screens, rotating through the offers so each one gets its few seconds of attention.
the kit.
A few parts, used the same way every time, so a leaflet and a billboard feel like the same place.

The O in Covid is a clock with a quarter filled in: fifteen minutes. It's the whole promise in one shape.
